Happy 9th Birthday Tia

Today is sweet little Tia’s 9th birthday. It is hard to believe that she is already 9 years old. We celebrated last night with cake and ice cream. The Kung Fu Panda cake was decorated so cute.
This is the invitation Tia's mommy created and sent by email to each of us. She is so clever. Tia looks so cute with her long black hair!
Cousins Bethany and Marisa and sisters TaraKate and Tabi sang "Happy Birthday Tia".

A visit with my sister

Tuesday we decided to get away just for the day, so we went
to visit my dear sister that lives about 2 hours away.
I don’t get to visit with her very much so it was nice to just sit
and talk to her for awhile.

Celebrating 47 Years Together

This picture was taken just as we were leaving our wedding reception August 5, 1961. We look so much younger.

On Our Special Day

I love looking back to where we began, seeing us as we were at the beginning, then slowly leafing through the memories we've made together to bring us to where we are today...I love anticipating the days ahead of us, wondering what we'll find in each other, in ourselves, before another year has slipped away...But, best of all, I love being with you where we are today, together writing the pages we'll remember tomorrow.
Quotes from Denny Davis

Psalm 136:1
O Give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy
endureth forever.
These Lilies just popped up in time to help us celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. I took this photo one morning after it had rained and so they still had raindrops on them, I just love to see them. We call them surprise lilies since they just seem to appear magically. God has made some wonderful things for us to enjoy.

Fresh garden vegetables

Today my gardener husband dug potatoes. I could hardly believe how nice and big they have grown. I put them in a basket with some of our other veggies and thought they would look neat displayed on my blog.

flowers and butterflies

We have been seeing so many beautiful butterflies on our lilies and I was able to get a photo of one on the tiger lilies.

ISAIAH 40:8
The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever.

We'd wish our kids were small again...

Proverbs 17:6
Grandchildren are the crown of the aged.....

Marisa went on her annual trip to Teen Leadership Conference in Clark Summit PA. We are so proud of her. She was so excited to go with her friends again. They learn so much and it is really a good thing for the young people to be together and be in God's word and praise the Lord together in song and workshops learning how to be good Christian leaders.

If we were granted any wish, I'll tell you what we'd do,We'd wish our kids were small again, for just a month or two.To hear their squeals of laughter, to watch them while they play. And when they ask us to join in, we wouldn't say, "Not today."
To hug again their chubby frames, to kiss away their tears, and cherish childhood innocence that washed away the years. Then when it's story time again, we'd stay a little longer,to answer questions, sing the songs, so memories would be stronger.
But time is callous, wishes, myth, yet God in all his wisdom, has given us another chance before we join his kingdom.Your faces may not be just the same, your names are changed, 'tis true, but yet the smile that radiates, reminds us so much of you.
God must have known that grandparents would need a chance or two.For many little happy things we hadn't time to do.So God gave love to grandparents to equal that before, that,in effect embraces those little lives they bore.

Today our sweet little ones came for awhile to visit which is a wonderful thing for Mamaw and Papaw. Mamaw is teaching Tia to sew and today she was able to make a small quilt by herself. She was so happy to do that today and TaraKate was right by her side taking it all in so she will be trying it soon herself. The girls also enjoyed looking at picture books with Papaw and of course Papaw was having a great time as well.

Very special to me!

A wonderful gift my daughter made for me for Mother's Day this year. It is really special to me since it shows all my grandchildren. It is a photo and also can be used as a screen saver.
